The European Conference on Information Systems (ECIS) is one of the most prestigious gathering of information systems academics and research-oriented practitioners in the world. The conference activities are primarily delivered by and for academics, though many of the papers and panels have a strong professional orientation. ECIS aims to encourage and inspire innovative and informative IS research that is relevant to the social, economic and cultural particularities of the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), raise the visibility of IS-related research practice, education and bring together researchers, educators, policy makers and practitioners originating from, or working in the region.

Marrakech is the largest metropolitan city in Morocco, constituting the country’s cultural and historical heart. With a population of 341000, it is one of the four largest cities in Morocco. It is located 2 hours (by car) to the south of Casablanca and half an hour from the base of the Atlas Mountains. Marrakech is 1 hour from beautiful beaches, bush walks, and the stunning port and castle of Essaouira.

In 2015, Marrakech celebrated 30 Years as UNESCO World Heritage Site. UNESCO declared the old town area of Marrakech as World Heritage Site in 1985. Over the past three decades, Marrakech has been maintained and rehabilitated structurally, including its world-famous medina, its gardens and various historical sites, all considered a world patrimony.
